Why Obama fights bitter cynicism

Bittergate? It’s not surprising we’re bitter, is it? It’s not surprising Obama’s opponents might yank comments out of context, either, but here’s the reality:

General Colin L. PowellMcCain thinks Obama’s out of touch. Clinton thinks folks in PA aren’t bitter? Obama’s the candidate who isn’t running to promote his own interests, but to empower us. He’s as tired of old-school politics as you and I are.

Still not convinced? I don’t blame you. We’ve been fooled by self-interested politicians mouthing the right words many times. Listen to General Colin Powell talk about experience, issues, and how Obama reacted to the Jeremiah Wright “America’s chickens are coming home to roost” comments and the like, and tell me:

Who gets it? Who’s in touch?

You’ll notice even when the race issue is brought up, Powell doesn’t count it as a factor. There are plenty of reasons to vote for Barack Obama, ask your neighbors or read here online. Naturally, his detractors are desperate to find something — anything! even his middle name! what’s next, teasing him about his mother? — to spin against him to keep people distracted from learning the truth.

  1. Last election, I actually knew people who believed the spin that Iraq had caused 9/11.

So there sadly are plenty who are ignorant enough to either use or fall for that absurd “Hussein” trick…..mindless reactionaries.

Maybe we should require IQ tests before people are allowed to vote. The lives of innocent, intelligent Americans are at stake.
