Humana and other entrenched interests claim it will cost too much to change; they want everybody to forget the cost of doing nothing is far, far greater. Health care costs have spiraled out of control in the U.S., with no end in sight as the prices rise much faster than inflation.

Big health care insurance companies spend millions of dollars per day, raised by bureaucrats at companies who decide your premiums and what they’ll cover or not cover, all to influence congress and public opinion. They not only control our access to health care, they use our money to insulate themselves from anything that might impinge on their profits.

The profit motive turned out to be a bad way to manage Fire Companies; privatizing works for many things, but we're all glad we didn't get drawn into privatized retirement accounts to replace Social Security these days - how may examples do we need?

I'm not really a plumber, of course. I compared McCain and Obama on stuff, like their plan for health care (’cause that cost matters to a guy like me - I don’t actually even have health care.

So maybe listening to elite GOP strategists and right wing talk show hosts isn't the way to decide who I'll vote for after all.

[...] Posted in 2008 Elections, 2008 debate, John McCain's campaign, Presidential campaign, Senator Barack H. Obama, U.S. Economy, foreclosure crisis, health care, mortgage reform, senior citizens, taxes tagged 401k, Barack Hussein Obama, Bush economic policies, fixed income, job creation, John McCain, privatize social security, retirement accounts, senior citizens, taxes, trickle down myth, Wall street collapse at 6:11 pm by realitytax I don’t understand McCain’s priorities or his rationale. Maybe he’s never heard of insurance companies controlling medical procedures and limiting access to prescriptions - he’s got better coverage than I do, certainly. After watching the final presidential debate I can’t see how most senior citizens in the U.S.A. can afford McCain’s policies; he voted against much needed-increases in Medicare funding, taking away many seniors’ only access to health care. He thinks the health care system is working just fine.
